Cohiba Cigars
Cohiba Cigars were founded in 1968, and soon became well known Cuban cigars, among one of the finest Cuban cigars to be produced as of yet. Initially, it was created and distributed only for the use of Cuban government officials, among them Fidel Castro, but it began to be distributed to a wider market in 1982. The Cohiba Cigars are made from the Vegas Finas de Primera in the San Luis and San Juan y Martinez in Pinar del Rio Province . The Cohiba cigar brand became infamous when Fidel Castro noticed one of his bodyguards smoking a very appealing, aromatic cigar. He quickly inquired about the cigar’s maker, and organized a factory in El Laguito, in which the cigar rollers would hand-make personalized cigars for him. Among the Cohiba Cigars are: the Exquisito, the Coronas Esp., the Panetela, the Lanceros, the Robustos, the Piramide, the Linea 1492, the Siglo I, the Siglo II, all the way to the Siglo V.
