Cuban Cigars

Cigar plantations in Cuba are said to have began around the 18th century, and the Cuban cigar became so recognized and reputable, that it was adopted as the country’s national symbol. Not only is Cuban cigasr well-known, but Cuban cigar rollers have a very good reputation around the world also, as highly skilled, or rather, probably the most highly skilled rollers worldwide. Western Cuba is where the majority of the world’s tobacco is grown. Global Cuban Cigar brands include: Cohiba, Hoyo de Monterrey, Montecristo, Partagas, Romeo y Julieta, and Quintero. Local brands include: Bolivar, Fonseca, Punch, Vegas Robaina, H. Upmann, Jose L. Piedra, Guantanamera, Cabanas, Juan Lopez, Sancho Panza, . Discontinued Cuban cigar brands include: Davidoff, Dunhill, Don Alfredo, Don Candido, La Corona, Troya, and Gispert. Some of the oldest cigars have been Cuban cigars, which have lasted through the decades and are still favorites among smokers today. Por Larranga, for example, was founded in 1834, and is probably one of the oldest trademarks in the history of Havana. Ramon Allones followed a few years later, and was founded in 1837. Partagas Cigars, which were founded in 1845, are still extremely popular today, more so than many of the new and modern cigars. Bolivar Cigars began around 1927, with the help of Jose F. Rocha, who named the cigar after Simon Bolivar. Because of Cuba’s long, successful history in the art of cigar rolling and manufacturing, Cuban cigars have become the leading cigars in not only the United States, but worldwide.
