Maduro Cigars
Maduro Cigars are extremely appealing cigars, known for their rich, aromatic and different flavors. Maduro, which in Spanish means “ripe”, is a brown wrapper utilized to roll cigars in, giving the cigar its earthy, flavorful taste. Maduro wrappers can be used in two different processes: in one process, the top 2/3 of the plant leaf is utilized. The leaf is left to ripen under the sun, and additional sugar is added to the leaves through the process of photosynthesis. Oil is also produced on the leaf in defense of the sun’s exposure, and thus, the leaves become oily, and offer a more lush taste. Depending on which area of the leaf one utilizes for the wrapping process will give you the result of the flavor. If the top portion is utilized, the wrapper will have a very full flavor, whereas if the middle area is used, the wrapper will be much milder in flavor and taste. Maduro wrappers are also fermented to a specific temperature, between 100 to 120 degrees generally. The longer the leaves are fermented, the darker it is in color, so one can see there are a multitude of flavors, colors, and tastes that one can derive from a single Maduro wrapper leaf.
